For 95 years, GCU has provided Bible teaching to schoolgirls across the United Kingdom and Ireland, and to a small number of girls in Africa, India and Asia.  In May 2009 following a four-month Consultancy, members of the UK Council and The Girl Crusaders' Union Trust passed a Resolution to close the work of GCU following the Camps in Summer 2010.

Although all GCU Groups have closed, some are continuing under different umbrella bodies.
